Although Book of Ours Media is taking a short break to formulate new ways to reach a wider audience and come up with some new ideas and prepare for upcoming guests, we know that the quarterly budget reviews are up for corporations. This means that certain people may find themselves either unemployed or may find themselves being considered for a job. It seems like most of my social media connections have no issue with income or employment so this may seem irrelevant to you. But take it from me, there are millions in this country (myself included) who have been made unemployed & victimized on purpose, due to bureaucracy. Next time you bitch about how people “don’t want to work” think twice.
I don’t think people realize the level of scapegoating the unemployed are going through.
If you are seeking a job in today’s market, make sure you have all documentation going back 10-12 years.
Although you may provide your recruiter w2’s going back a decade to show proof of income and employment, you provide references, you provide proof of a college degree, you provide proof of income and hire dates, even with offer letters from former employers, your file still has to be sent to “compliance” for review.
There is a new step in the on-boarding process that is a peer to peer verification of social status. A friend who is not related to you by marriage or otherwise must verify you are who you are. This friend should either own their own business or be in a long term position at a reputable corporation. That friend will receive an email from the on boarding specialist for the job you are applying for. They will have to click on the link and set up a username and password. They will then have to answer a series of questions about you, possibly upload pdf’s into the system and verify they know you, how long they’ve known you and any other questions the onboarding system feels relevant to the job you are seeking.
This is time consuming and complicated, not for you. But for your friend. Do you know many people that want to take an hour or more out of their day to help you this way?
If you’ve filed bankruptcy or your credit isn’t good, or even if your credit is good now but it wasn’t in the past, you’ll have to provide a comprehensive explanation as to why.
The compliance department in all corporations act like FBI agent wanna be’s. If they don’t sign off on your file with a “pass” then you’re not going to get the job no matter how much the hiring manager wants you.
Whether you are seeking employment in the tech sector that pays up to $100/hour or a minimum wage job at McDonalds it has been confirmed this grueling verification process is practically the same across the board for all potentials seeking employment.
So this narrative that people are just lazy and don’t want to work is wrong and an utter lie. Basically if you’re human you’re not eligible for the job.
Furthermore, you may see signs in your local store that say “Due to labor shortages we may not have all the supplies you seek.” This too is an utter lie. If there are supply issues, it’s not because of labor shortages. This signage is a tool to force you into scapegoating the unemployed.
In general there is this message going around that people “don’t want to work” – the new across the board verification process (social credit, work credit , credit credit) is to set people up to fail. If you have been given a verbal offer for a job you applied for, it starts to lose its offerability with each verification step. It’s done by design, on purpose. Humans are being set up to fail. We are not being Debbie Downers. It’s literally just accounting and checking off boxes.
