In case anyone was curious, here is the meme/quote that has been shared hundreds of times, has received thousands of comments and has tens of thousands of reactions. The amount of people that like, love and cheer on the idea that the Third Space, otherwise known as The Coffee Shop, should be removed from our existence is pretty bizarre:
Let me start off by saying I don’t know who Jason Christoff is. I’ve seen his name occasionally shared on social media, usually in reference to something he’s quoted as saying but I’ll admit I never paid much attention. If I were to guess I suppose he’s some kind of health influencer who’s amassed a cult following.
But I’d like to break down a meme and use this one as an example, if I may.
I’ve found over the years that users love the idea of something complicated and scientific to support their world-view. They love the idea of having inside knowledge on something the rest of the world may not understand. They love to share and re-share this inside knowledge. I don’t know the first thing about MHz and I kind of don’t think that’s the point of the meme. So please, please I BEG you don’t get distracted with the 15th century meaning of music levels and sound voodoo and try to enlighten me. I’ve watched the videos and listened to the elaborate explanations and I still honestly don’t understand. You’ll be wasting your breath if you try to explain it to me. The point of it is that
Whether he realizes it or not, I think Christoff’s meme-quote is to normalize the idea that we must somehow cheer the idea of removing the Third Space from our lives.
