In this 90 minute discussion the artists talk about the changing medical practices and take a close look at how class war has personally affected them and how their lives are collateral damage due to the systemic undermining of meeting their basic needs to survive. With nothing to lose, since they’ve already lost everything, they go to those uncomfortable microscopic spaces that no one is discussing. Such as, how to keep the junkies in the neighborhood from wandering into their home in the future while they are producing a video essay.
Sunflowers are weeds that don’t require tending. They are showy and bright and everyone loves them and they draw the gold finches, who are also showy and bright. But it’s the marigolds that keep the squash bugs away. And, when you live in a food desert and a poor community, you need your squash to survive so you can eat healthy food. Rather than spraying squash plants with pesticides in order to keep those bugs away, the artists plant the marigolds, which squash bugs don’t like, around the squash plants.
In this 90 minute discussion the artists also ask how it benefits you to obsess over and attach and waste your precious mind space to the systemic abuses by the untouchable billionaire class when you have real-life issues and circumstances that must be addressed. For instance, someone we used to know was forced to live with a dead corpse in her Philadelphia apartment building for a week. How does knowing about what’s happening with the World Economic Forum help her circumstance? Is your anger at Jeffrey Epstein co-opting the necessary emotional bandwidth you need in order to survive being pushed to the margins because of your choices? The artists discuss how those choices could have potentially alienated you from everyone you once respected and looked up to and thought was your safety net. Like, your choice not to get a vaccine..
