Fetishizing the Virus and the Vote

Fetishizing the Virus and the Vote
November 2, 2020 by Julie Collins

The virus is the vote is the virus is the vote is the virus is the vote is the virus is the vote is the…

Ok. You get the point.

There’s so much hysteria around a virus and a vote, the lines are starting to blur and I’m having difficulty differentiating between the two.

A big part of fetish fantasy is a mask. I wonder why people are fetishizing it now. The end of a democracy or a functioning republic leaves a vacuum for exploitive sex fantasy scenarios, an underbelly of society that typically remains out of our line of sight floats to the top when a country is closed off to democracy. This happens in every closed society. Prostitution and hard drug use become legalized and the lines become blurred between what is moral and what is exploitive and what is fetishized versus a healthy way to blow off steam. Now everyone is in a mask, fetishizing over it and obsessing over it and making their fetish obsession a fashion statement, a Halloween costume or a requirement to buy anything.

It’s weird. I can’t identify. I’ve never been into fetish.

Now for the vote.

School-marm types are snapping their command, “I have no patience for those who do not vote. It’s your civic duty!” LP angrily tweets. I think she should update her Twitter profile to The Voting Dominatrix.

It’s not in my culture to vote. It would be highly inappropriate to vote. I have a conscience after all. Please put down your whip silly person. The people you think you are voting into office are mouthpieces for the stakeholders, unelected committee members and corporate investors. They’re the real Dominatrixes, or er, Masters. ( I spent waaaaay too much time trying to get the answer to “What is a Male Dominatrix called” in the search engine, not a rabbit hole I suggest you get lost in.) You can snarl and snap your whip all you want but you’re not in charge of driving this so called democratic vote. Now calm down with your fetish.

In this fetishized virus ala the vote and vice versa world we live in now, a big chunk of the population has raised their hysteria in unison. Their whips, masks, chains, leashes and barking dialogue seem to have taken center stage. They’re fetishizing their fetish.

Oh boy, or is it boys?

The fetishization of the candidate, either one, is an irritating display of a need for “the Daddy. ” Each person needs their Daddy Dom to win and snivels at the feet of the voting booth, fetishizing and mooning over their oncoming oppression. Maybe Daddy Joe will write another Crime Bill with Kamala. Oh goodie. Maybe Daddy Don will make the Warp Speed Vaccine come faster.

Slobber slobber slobber.

I see this same fetishization (or just plain ole obsession) with content creators who hold the market in the “marketplace of ideas.” (That’s YouTube jargon – libertarian- content-creator speak for people like me, who make informational shit and stuff). Their subs – short for “subscribers” but it’s no mistake that the REALLY popular YT content creators call their subscribers “SUBS” because they know they DOMINATE their subscriber’s world – coil their life around the latest uploads and content. What’s even worse is when their subs share their Daddy Dom YouTube videos with me.

Back to the VirusVote.

Unfortunately when I politely decline the fetishization of the VirusVote (may as well just make it one word at this point, because who can tell the difference – after all the voting system infects every aspect of our lives just like the fake virus has) or even go so far as to criticize it, I am either blocked, ghosted, defunded or just outright attacked.

Those who fetishize over something that forces them into submission whether it’s fetishizing over their love of being mutilated through a mask, or humiliated through an electoral process that is laughing at them from behind stacks of money, are often the first to become angry little tyrants, taking on the role of their Doms or Masters.

And this vicious little cycle continues, with people fetishizing its continuation, giving it the energy it needs to propel forward.

That’s it.

That’s all I got.

It’s too gross to keep writing about.
