There is a story trending that Elon Musk is discussing, with Trump, the possibility of awarding a $5,000.00 payout to American tax payers. Why is he considering this? The claim is that it’s because DOGE has rooted out so much wasteful spending that Americans deserve to see some of that money returned to them.
This is bullshit.
It’s hush money. It’s a bribe. It’s extortion and it’s your entire retirement, if you let this bullshit DOGE garbage continue and it’s a total and complete distraction from the obvious.
It’s a coverup for the real story.
And the real story is… Entire industries are shutting down, slamming shut and never to be re-opened again in ways the American public AREN’T EVEN TALKING ABOUT.
Every story from all-female airlines landing upside down on the icy tarmac in Toronto, to a meteor the size of the Statue of Liberty on a trajectory to hit the planet in 2032, to Trump or Gates or whoever wanting to blot out the sun, to Musk and his band of merry pranksters rooting out wasteful spending in our government, to the over-the-top language coming out regarding Palestine or Ukraine, to another fowl flu, to the lack of eggs on shelves is ALL a distraction from the number one current critical issue in this country that not one person in this country is talking about:
UNEMPLOYMENT
And, it’s not just unemployment in the government sector. (You’re all cheering those middle class civil servants being fired. )
It is massive, gargantuan, cataclysmic unemployment in the private sector as well. Millions of dollars worth of paychecks that once paid into your local schools, your local grocery stores, your local dog walker, your local small businesses, your local economies and into your local job sector are now gone. All those middle class earners who held jobs that didn’t pay huge salaries, but did pay just enough to sustain YOUR economy are now gone.
Entire industries have seemingly vanished overnight and everyone who worked in those industries is now without a job. And you aren’t talking about it! In fact the people who are unemployed for the first time in their lives aren’t even talking about it.
By the way, is EVERYONE who posts online simply independently wealthy that this devastating economic catastrophe can simply be shrugged off?
Like I said, entire industries are vanishing.
Here’s a metaphor, or an easy way for me to explain it:
Let’s say all jobs that involve a particular trade have simply vanished.
Let’s say the trade is car repair. Suddenly every car repair shop in the United States has fired about 90% of their mechanics. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of car repair mechanics suddenly find themselves out of work. Most of them have never been out of work before so they think, “Hey, it’s ok. Everyone needs their car repaired so I’ll just go apply to another car repair shop.”
Hundreds of thousands of car mechanics flood car repair shops with their resumes and applications. None of the mechanics ever hear back from the shops. For the first time in their professional careers, they are ghosted.
This is because the industry of car repair has ended, for whatever reason.
Mechanics-In tells the car repair mechanics it’s their fault, that their resumes and applications aren’t good enough, that they’re not presenting themselves appropriately, rather than reporting on the truth: the industry of car repair is now dead. Car repair masters, like the dudes at “Car Talk” blather on talk-radio about how car repair mechanics need to do this, or do that to secure a job but they never ever mention that the industry itself has ended. So the mechanics scurry over to their resume and applications, doctor them up, upgrade, update and do everything they can to give them that WOW factor to get noticed.
But still, no one’s calling them back.
Months go by. Then, an entire year goes by.
Not one word. Not even a rejection letter.
Yet, they walk around and drive around and still see mechanics working, so of course the industry must still be in need, right? In fact, every single repair shop that the mechanics have applied to have said “Sure, we’re hiring. We need you! Send in your application and resume!”
Yet, it’s crickets.
No mechanic ever hears back if their resume and application was even reviewed.
Unemployment benefits have run out. The savings has been used up. The retirement money they squirreled away has been used up. There simply isn’t anyone hiring car mechanics and there is no way to survive.
They fall off the unemployment system so it looks like people filing for unemployment are at an all time low which translates in the media that jobs are up and unemployment is down.
This is a lie.
And yet, all this time, the mechanics are never told the the truth: that the industry in essence, has completely shut down. They are never told that 90% of the industry has now automated, or the car repair companies have simply kept on a skeleton crew of mechanics who are overworked and of course underpaid.
Even if the industry has not automated and actual human car repair mechanics are still doing car repairs, the fact is the industry has come to a screeching halt and is literally no longer hiring any mechanics.
Why is that?
Is it because the parts that the car repair shops are ordering to fix people’s cars have suddenly quadrupled in cost and so the best way to offset this cost is to fire all mechanics? Yes.
Is it because a large percentage of cars are being replaced by electric vehicles and the traditional car repair mechanic doesn’t have the knowledge to repair these new kinds of vehicles? Yes.
Is it because a big chunk of the industry is now using robotics or AI to repair cars and anyone can simply follow some ChatGPT prompts and repair a car? Yes.
Is it because the funding to car repair shops or specifically, the entire automotive industry, has dried up because funding the automotive industry with government funding is considered wasteful spending? Yes.
The earth-shatteringly record high unemployment levels that no government agency is recording and no media outlet is covering is causing a break in reality among the population, especially the population that lives online.
But you’ll feel it with inflation.
You’ll see it as more and more as these once middle class earners have to un-enroll their children in private schools. You’ll see it when you don’t have to wait for a table at that trendy coffee shop you always go to. You’ll feel it when the prices of your groceries, or anything you buy, has suddenly skyrocketed. You’ll start to, slowly, over time realize that homes that were once busy and occupied have had “For Sale” signs on them for months and you’ll be staring at your last unemployment payment and wondering what’s coming next, for you.
